How will we use these materials?

We asked Aromatherapy Specialist Yıldız Kurt what we can do for a cleaning routine that respects both our body and the environment.

What is the first suggestion you would give to those who want to incorporate aromatherapy and natural cleaning into their home?

Let them start with simple and basic products. Making dish and laundry detergent may seem difficult at first. First, let them benefit from the antiviral, antifungal and antibacterial properties of essential oils in house cleaning. E.g; They can add a tablespoon of natural arabic soap and two drops of hybrid lavender and sage essential oil to their cleaning buckets. Adding half a cup of white vinegar is also very good. They can add two or three drops of lemon or orange essential oil to the detergent dispenser of the dishwasher for each wash. One or two drops of hybrid lavender essential oil can be added to the ironing water. In this way, they can easily incorporate simple but effective methods into their lives.

What are the issues we should pay attention to when using natural cleaning agents in house cleaning?

Since they do not contain preservatives, they should be prepared in small amounts. It is wasteful to prepare and use as much as needed. It is also important to use good quality essential oil. We need to store the products in a cool and dry place.

It is difficult to find cleaning materials with 100% natural ingredients. Can you share with us a recipe that you have formulated with essential oils or natural ingredients and that we can easily make and apply at home?

The general surface cleaner recipe is one of the easiest. Mix half a tea glass of natural arabic soap and a tea glass of baking soda in a glass bowl. It will take on a creamy consistency. Add 10 drops of lemon and 10 drops of tea tree essential oil. We have obtained both a degreasing and a bactericidal formula.

You can store it for a month in a glass jar. You can pour one or two spoons on surfaces such as toilet bowls, sinks, bathtubs, counters, sinks and rub or brush with a wire. Those who want to use it in a more liquid form can add three or four spoons of hot water to the formula and put it in an old shampoo bottle. You can use it on any surface by shaking it before use. You will love the smell and cleaning.
